Hi friends!
I have struggled to be comfortable with a blog post, especially as so much superficial communication is now shared electronically. How do we really connect our hearts, our souls? I had been praying for the right venue to share my stories.
Then I realized that I could write a weekly story for a friend who has an inoperable cyst on her spine. In pain, she is facing her decline with courage. I had back pain for two days; I cannot imagine living with it day after day. I have sent her flowers through friends; she has come to the farm occasionally. Neither are likely options now, but I can send a story in the mail to cheer her. I had found my venue: sharing stories with friends.
Some 25 of you asked to receive my posts, so I decided I would share that story with you. Girl Power is the first story I sent her. Years ago, I wrote a weekly newsletter imagining three women in my life: a mother with an infant son who felt housebound, a friend who was struggling to regain her health after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and my aging ex-mother-in-law, a dear woman with a great zest for life.
More and more, I see how life in the garden is woven together through tiny intimate details. I sense the play of interaction within me, within the world, and within the interaction between us: it is that weaving that can create the world we want our children and grandchildren.
I hope these stories will cheer you too and lead you to reflect on the inner and outer dimensions of your lives and how they are woven together.
To a new chapter,
With love,
Sally
